1st BOMA Survey

ARI has landed it's first BOMA survey, a 50,000 sq.ft. multi-use building in Stratford, Ontario. BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association) is an international advocacy group for all matters relating to commercial property management. One of their functions is to produce floor measurement standards for calculating area for lease verification and real estate sales. For this project, we used 'BOMA 2010 for Office Buildings: Standard Methods of Measurement (ANSI/BOMA Z65.1-2010)'. This standard ensures that everyone is speaking the same language when it comes to building area.

The key to a BOMA survey are the drawings themselves; they must be accurate, and they must have all of the elements that affect BOMA area calculations. Accurate as-builts are our specialty. Secondly you must know how to interpret and apply the standards. We do that too.

For more information about BOMA, visit the international site at www.boma.org, or the Canadian site at www.bomacanada.ca.
